Celebrity Birthday: September 20, Rikki Lee Travolta

CHICAGO – Celebrity birthday: Best selling recording artist Rikki Lee Travolta turns 27 on September 20, 2002. The singer is attached to star in the television movie HERO BEFORE DAWN, directed by and co-starring STAR TREK THE NEXT GENERATION alum Michael Dorn. Travolta's patriotic September 11th tribute "HERO'S LULLABY" which garnered radio airplay in Rock, Country, and Pop genres will be featured in the television movie.

Travolta is following in the footsteps of Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Billy Bob Thorton, and Sylvester Stallone - actors who turned to writing in order to create their own breakthrough role (in addition to his starring role, the Shakespearean trained Travolta authored the script). It is not, however, the leading man's first stab at literature. Travolta, who earned his BA at the age of 15, has a novel "MY FRACTURED LIFE" set to arrive in bookstores nationwide in November.

HERO BEFORE DAWN is a psychological action story of a reluctant champion who faces the ultimate question of duty and what truly defines a hero when he must chose between the woman he loves and the nation that needs him. Travolta's dark humor and emotionally turbulent characters reflects the influence of playwrites Sam Shepard and Tennessee Williams. Travolta starred in the Midwest revival of Williams' "Cat On a Hot Tin Roof" prior to Brendan Fraser's London turn in the role of alcoholic quarterback Brick Pollitt, and in Los Angeles in Shepard's "Buried Child."
